* It was held Austrian qualification to ISF. By the results of this competition representatives from Austria on ISF will be Thomas Pfaffel (dan tournament) and Marco Dietmayer (kyu tournament). See also list of ISF participants at this moment

* Habu have got a victory against Hashimoto(7 dan) in Final of Challengers for Oi title. In Oi title match will play Fukaura (Oi) and Habu (Challenger).

* Habu won the 6th game against Moriuchi in Meijin title match. Final score is 4-2 on Habu. Habu takes the Meijin title 5th time in career and he becomes the 19th Lifetime Meijin in shogi history.

* Sweden beat Italy with score 3-0 in 5th round of STL and has 8 team points. Ukraine also has 8 team points after loss from Belarus 1-2. Belarus and Germany have 6 team points. Hungary and Russia also have 6 team points but after 4 matches. Last match of 5th round STL Hungary-Russia will be played more later.

* Moriuch won the 5th game in Meijin title match against Habu. Score is 3-2 om Habu.

* Christer Hartman (dan tournament) and Nils Carlsson (kyu tournament) will be the reprentatives of Sweden in International Shogi Festival in Tendo (Japan)

* Habu won the 4th game in Meijin title match against Moriuchi and lead with score 3-1.

* Russia beat USA with score 2-1 in last match of 4th round of Shogi Team League. Ukraine has 8 team points. Sweden, Hungary and Russia have 6 team points. 5th round of STL will be played 14 June.

* Habu won the 3rd game in Meijin title match against Moriuchi and lead with score 2-1.

* Two exhibition games were played after 18th World Computer Shogi Championship. WCSC champion programme Gekisashi won Toru Shimizugami, second prizer programme Tanase Shogi won Yukio Kato. Time limit was 15 minutes + 30 seconds byoyomi.

* 3-5 May in Japan was held 18th World Computer Shogi Championship. The first place took computer programme Gekisashi, second place - Tanase Shogi, third place - Bonanza. Champion of 17th WCSC programme YSS finished on 4th place. It was the 3rd champion title for Gekisashi (previuos were in 2002 and 2005).

* Ukraine became a leader of Shogi Team League after victory 2-1 against Sweden. Ukraine won all 4 matches. Sweden and Hungary have 3 team victories.

* All games of Shogi Team League on PlayOK (Kurnik) will be started at 19:00 GMT+2. After 3 rounds of Shogi Team League Sweden and Ukraine have 6 team points both. Russia, Hungary, Italy and USA have 4 team points. Next round will be held on 3rd May. The main event is the match between Sweden and Ukraine.

* It was started Meijin title match between Moriuchi (Meijin) and Habu (Challenger). Moriuchi won the 1st game on 97 move. The second game will be played 22-23 April.

* On 4th April largest Belorussian Internet portal TUT.BY declared the results of the 6th yearly competition of the Belorussian content-projects. Judges selected best of 200 entered in competition content-projects of the Belorussian Internet on 12 nominations, and also noted a number of projects by special prizes. Site of Belorussian amateurs of shogi www.shogi.by took the second place in the nomination "leisure and entertainments".

* International chess institute to be built in south Vietnam. Under an agreement between Vung Tau authorities and World Chess Federation (FIDE) Secretary General Ignatius Leong, the chess center will offer training in three kinds of chess, including chess, xiangqi and shogi.
